Especialmente indicada en pacientes con riesgo coronario. Hipercolesterolemia asociada a hipertrigliceridemia con niveles elevados de LDL-colesterol. Tambi\u00e9n se usa en trastornos lip\u00eddicos secundarios a diabetes y s\u00edndrome nefr\u00f3tico.<br \/>\nPOSOLOG\u00cdA<br \/>\nPor v\u00eda oral dosis usual de inicio 10 mg por d\u00eda en una dosis por la noche, aumentando 5-10 mg cada 2 semanas. Dosis habitual 5-40 mg. Dosis m\u00e1xima 40 mg por d\u00eda. Pediatr\u00eda: 10-17 a\u00f1os: ni\u00f1as 1 a\u00f1o luego de la menarca: iniciar con 5 mg por d\u00eda, dosis m\u00e1x. 20 mg.<br \/>\nCONTRAINDICACIONES<br \/>\nHipersensibilidad a estatinas. Insuficiencia hep\u00e1tica, hepatopat\u00edas. Miastenia gravis.<br \/>\nPRECAUCIONES<br \/>\nEmbarazo: Categor\u00eda X: contraindicada. Lactancia: Potencialmente riesgosa a dosis habituales. Suspender ante aumento de transaminasas mayor a 3 veces el m\u00e1ximo normal. El alcoholismo incrementa el riesgo de hepatopat\u00eda. El uso concomitante con fibratos o \u00e1cido nicot\u00ednico debe realizarse bajo estricto control de s\u00edntomas musculares y de CPK. Insuficiencia renal. Seguridad y eficacia no establecida en menores de 10 a\u00f1os.
